We will hold our registration night on 29 February at the Club house.U 6s , 8s , 10s , 12s , 14s , 16s will all register on the night.Registration fee just €5.
Presentation Night.
Our Presentation of medals will be made to the 13s 14s 15s and 16s who were all sucessful in 2011 will take place on 17th February in the Community Centre Galbally at 8 o clock.We have 2 very special guests on the night to present the medals.
The AGM of Galbally GAA club was held on Friday 13 January. A large crowd was present and there followed a very positive meeting. The main points of the meeting were as follows
Secretary’s Report
The Treasurer gave a detailed Income and Expenditure account in which he stated the Club is in a healthy financial situation with no debts. He thanked all who helped with any of the fundraising events this year. He stressed the importance of the Mackey draw and outlined the importance of it for Galbally. He stated he was retiring as treasurer and thanked all the officials who helped him this year and over the past number of years since he took on the role.
The Chairman then gave his report in which he also thanked his fellow officers and club officials for their work in 2011.He especially thanked John Kiely for his work as Treasurer for several years and wished him luck with the Limerick Senior hurling team. He congratulated Henry Martin for his work in producing the book "History of Galbally GAA club" and he reviewed the fortunes of the various teams in 2011. He also reviewed the work undertaken in 2011 in regards the development of club facilities. His hope for 2012 was to have an official opening of the Club grounds by staging an Inter county football match.Lisa Kearney was thanked for her work in publishing the club website.

Launch of Club Book.
The history of Galbally GAA club was written by Henry Martin and launched on December 2nd.This is an outstanding production with over 600 pages of research, photos and interviews.It is an excellent souvenir or present for any one with even the slightest Galbally connections.
It traces the origons of the club from the early years of the 20th Century up to present times.It has indebt match reports which were painstakingly gathered from Limerick Leader Reports and other sources.
Photos are plentiful and many exist back to those early years.Many also exist of more recent times and are a highlight of the book.
The price is very reasonable at only €25 and the club expresses its gratitude to all those who volunteered to become Patrons of the book thus ensuring the project could come to fruition.

Galbally GAA club suffered a sad loss over the Christmas period when Johnny Hyland passed away.Johnny has been a great clubman all his life and was very active in the club right up to his short illness.He served in various roles in the club and more recently was very active in fundraising.Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam slán.
Bord na nOg AGM.
A large crowd attended the AGM of Galbally Bord na nOg which was held on 13th December in the club house.Chairman Martin Kearney thanked fellow officers and team managers for their work during the past year. He said it had been a very successful year for the club with large numbers of children from u6 to u16 catered for.He also thanked Alan Noonan for his help with U16s and his good work at the school.
Tom Quinlan gave a detailed treasurer’s report.He said the club was in a healthy position thanks to its joint fund raising work with the senior club as well as a successful Mackey draw and church gate collection.Going forward he assured all team managers that funds would be provided for all training requisites.
In her secretary’s report, Mairead Morrissey said, “Thanks to all who support our county development draw and church gate collection. She went on to say “The VHI camp was held in July at which children learned football and hurling skills. Our camp was well supported this year and we had up to 70 children which during the recession is excellent. Again the camp was excellent from the trainers down to the very young children and a great time was had by all.” Mairead said “Thanks to her fellow officers Tom Quinlan, Martin Kearney and Paul Ryan for their help throughout the year. She thanked all the members of the club for their assistance and also thanked the senior club on behalf of the committee, and also the team mentors and selectors. With this last part of the secretary’s report Mairead tendered her resignation, having been secretary for the past 7 years. She Thanked everyone who assisted her throughout this time.” All present congratulated Mairead on her commitment over the 7 years.
Managers of the teams gave their yearly reports.
Donie O’Mahony said we have a strong u8 team and theywent to blitzes in various venues and did well in Ballyporeen and Kildorerry.
Deckie Dineen also said he had a very talented bunch of players in the u 10 group. They also went to a lot of Blitzes.
Mike McCabe spoke of u12s, they won out their group in the lifting the Treaty Competitions..
Paul Ryan and Tom Quinlan spoke of u13s and u14s Both had a very strong season. 13s got to the final and had a good year before eventually losing out to a strong combination team from South Liberties.The 14s reached the semi finl and lost out to Sean Finns.
Ger Cussen spoke on U16s who did very well to get to u16 semi finalagainst Deel Rangers.
Martin Kearney spoke on u15s who had a great season and eventually emerged winners of premier competition against New Castle West. They defeated Monaleen in the semifinal. All managers expressed their frustration that the competitions finished so late in the season with a long gap midseason.
